This NHTSA poll done by the Gallup organization should not only make you nervous about being on the road, but should also make you rethink your own driving habits.

The percentage of people who routinely engage in unsafe driving behavior (cell phone use, eating while driving, messing with the stereo, talking to passengers) is mind boggling. But you should take a moment to think about how many of these bad habits YOU practice on a daily basis.

Never forget that you are behind the wheel of a vehicle that is moving very fast. It would be a tragedy if you caused someone else to get injured or worse because you got distracted from your primary objective.

Event Data Recorders for Your Car

Here is an interesting article from Slate, which describes new technology for cars.

It seems that many cars are currently carrying the automotive equivalent of "black boxes," which are those data recorders that are used in airplanes and are used by the NTSB to help determine what happened when there is a plane crash.

We believe that these event recorders could prove invaluable to car accident injury cases, as these recorders can help prove in court exactly how fast each individual car was going, and we can use that data to find out all sorts of information that is pertinent to the case.
