HPD Searches for Driver Involved in Fatal Motorcycle Accident

The accident occurred about 6:50 p.m. Saturday at 700 West Greens Road near Greens Crossing Boulevard in Houston.  (Chron.com)

The driver of the Suzuki motorcycle was driving at a high rate of speed on West Greens Road when the driver of a maroon Mercury Mystique pulled in front of him, causing the crash.

The motorcyclist hit the driver's side of the Mercury and was thrown from his motorcycle.  He was taken to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hosptial, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

According to witnesses, the Mercury driver initially stopped after the crash, but then ran over the motorcyclist and fled the scene of the accident, police said.

A witness attempted to follow the driver and hold him until police could arrive, but the driver and passenger of the Mercury got away, police said.
