Many Fatal Car Accidents Involve Young Drivers

As you can imagine, many fatal car accidents involve young drivers. As a matter of fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), young drivers account for nearly one-fifth of all fatalities on American roads.

What is considered a young driver? Young drivers have been classified as drivers between the ages of 15 to 20. Studies show that young drivers lack the driving experience that older drivers possess. Their lack of maturity on the roads leads to driving behavior that is considered risky.

Car accidents are claiming the lives of too many young people. According to the NHTSA, car accidents are the leading cause of death for people between the ages of 15 and 20.

A car accident caused by a young driver can lead to life altering injuries including death. Fortunately, specific programs have been created to inform young drivers about driving dangers, as well as to discourage risky driving behaviors.

Many of us think that we are safer on rural roads. Don’t be so sure. According to the NHTSA, more than half of the fatal car accidents involving young people happen on rural roads.

If you or someone you know has been involved in a Houston car accident, you should contact Steve Lee, an experienced Houston car accident attorney at (713) 921-4171 or (800) 232-3711.
