Prognosis for Burn Victims of Truck Accidents

We all can imagine how catastrophic a collision with a big rig can be, especially, when the truck is carrying hundreds of gallons of fuel. The outcome can resemble an explosive scene out of a Hollywood movie.

The problem is, an accident involving a big rig, is not as trivial as a scene from a Hollywood film. A victim may suffer serious burn injuries that can have life-altering ramifications and in some cases, may prove fatal.

Have you ever wondered how today’s technological advancements affect serious burn injuries? Probably not. In the past, a victim who suffered burns on over half of their body generally died from those injuries. Believe it or not, now, if a victim suffers burns up to 90 percent of their body, they stand a good chance of surviving.

However, the prognosis still may not be good. There are serious complications that can arise from burns. Along with the immense pain, a severely burned victim may suffer extreme swelling and blistering, damage to their blood vessels and the possibility of developing a life-threatening infection.

A burn victim may also become unable to work resulting in a possible loss of wages.

If you or someone you know has been injured in a Texas truck accident, you should contact Steve Lee, an experienced Houston truck accident attorney at (713) 921-4171 or (800) 232-3711.
