A driver in Houston lost control of his vehicle and struck a car, which then hit a pedestrian. The two vehicles ended up smashing into several park cars, according to a report by KPRC Local 2.
The driver that caused the accident is believed to have suffered a medical emergency while he was exiting onto Weslayan Street from the Southwest Freeway, said Houston police.
“We think he may have had a seizure or possibly a heart attack. He blacked out at the wheel,” said Sgt. A.C. Francois.
According to investigators, a senior citizen was struck while he was walking his dog outside the La Quinta Inn after the two vehicles collided. He was staying at the motel while receiving cancer treatments at a hospital in Houston. The pedestrian suffered only minor injuries, but he temporarily lost his dog after the accident. The dog was later found and is currently recovering at an animal hospital.
Houston police said that the two vehicles were spinning out of control after the impact and struck eight other cars that were parked in front of La Quinta Inn. A tree was also knocked down and damage was done to the motel’s breezeway.
One motel guest commented that he doesn’t plan on parking in front of the motel again.
The driver who started the 10-vehicle accident was transported to a hospital, but his condition had not been released to the public at the time of this article.
