The single-vehicle accident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 6900 block of the East Sam Houston Parkway, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
No other injuries were reported.
According to deputies the alleged drunk driver veered from the East Sam Houston Parkway while attempting to exit. Deputies said he tried to return to the service road, but apparently he could not regain control of the motor vehicle. He finally sped through a grassy median and crashed into a concrete retaining wall, deputies said.
The only passenger was thrown from the vehicle and was killed.
