August 4, 2010 - Galveston, TX - A family is still mourning the loss of their 15-year-old son and praying for the recovery of their 12-year-old daughter after a deadly hit-and-run accident on July 7th.
The Houston Chronicle reports that some closure is being found for the Morello family after the woman responsible for this tragic event has been charged with multiple violations, including manslaughter.
21-year-old Kimberly Louise Shano-Parsons of Bacliff was responsible for the accident which occurred on East Bayshore Drive in San Leon. Her car swerved off the road and struck the two children as they were walking north. Both children were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and Steven passed away on July 12th while Katelyn survived.
Shano-Parsons was arrested shortly after the accident thanks to witness information and found to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash. The original charges were for two counts of intoxication assault and she posted the $10,000 bail for these initial charges. Following Steven's death, Shano-Parsons was re-arrested and the charges were increased to manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of failure to stop and render aid.
