Posted on May 27, 2009

A man described as being in his 30s, was hit and killed on South Port Avenue just south of Laredo on the evening of Friday, May 22, 2009.  The fatal accident appears to have been a hit and run.

Police have stated that the pedestrian, who was in his 30s, was trying to cross South Port shortly before 9:00 PM Friday evening when a white pickup truck struck him and caused his death.

According to witnesses, the pickup truck driver left the scene of the accident and turned into a nearby neighborhood.  Police have asked the public to watch out for a white pickup truck with damage to the front right fender.

One witness recounted, “We saw a white truck go by and the right tail light was out in the front.  My fiancée gave me a call, I didn’t pay attention to nothing until I started hearing everything and then I put two and two together and I thought maybe that was the vehicle or something.”
