July 19, 2010 – Texas City, TX – A hit-and-run accident on the night of July 10 left a Galveston man dead and police searching for the pickup truck who fled the scene.

KHOU 11 reports that Melvin Ray Henry, 30, was traveling on I-45 south of Bayou Vista around midnight when he had a disagreement with a family member riding in the vehicle. The car pulled over on the center shoulder and Henry stepped out to stand in the left lane.

A Chevrolet pickup truck struck Henry and proceeded to speed off without stopping to offer aid or to wait for the arrival of emergency vehicles. The driver of the truck has not been identified and police are still searching for suspects in the hit-and-run accident. Henry was pronounced dead and later identified by the Galveston Medical Examiner’s Office.
