A fatal Houston auto accident involving a single car and a possible shooting leaves one person dead. The incident began at approximately 2:30 AM on Saturday morning, December 11, 2009 in the southwest Houston area.
According to police, the fatal accident may have been caused by a gun shot incident. Officials report that an unidentified man driving a Lexus sedan south on Chimney Rock lost control of his vehicle, crossed over the northbound lanes, and crashed into a parking lot. The parking lot is located at the 6500 block of Chimney Road.
Rescue workers transported the male victim to Memorial Herman Hospital Southwest where hospital officials pronounced the victim dead. Police have not released the identity of the 28-year-old driver, pending the notification of family members.
“Officers at the scene found some spent bullet casings in the road and what appeared to be a possible bullet hole in the front license plate,” said Houston Police Department spokesperson John Cannon. Cannon also indicated that they did not find any signs of a gunshot wound on the victim.
There were no reports of any other vehicles being involved in the incident.
The Houston accident is still under investigation by local authorities. No other information was made available.
