A Houston auto accident involving a police car sends two to the hospital after a man slams into the back of the cruiser. The incident took place on Saturday night, April 10, 2010, along the Katy Freeway.
According to investigators, an unidentified male driver was driving along the Katy Freeway when he failed to notice a stopped police cruiser and slammed into the rear of the car. Reports indicate that the police officer had just pulled over another vehicle when the incident took place.
Rescue crews transported the Precinct 5 Deputy Constable and the driver of the car to a nearby hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Their condition was not made known.
The driver had his son in the car. However, the child, who was in a car seat, escaped injuries.
Investigators have indicated that the driver may have been texting while driving, which may have played a contributing role in the two-vehicle wreck.
The Houston car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It has not been made known as to whether any charges will be brought forth.
Texting while driving can lead to serious accidents. Our thoughts go out to all of the victims involved and we wish them a speedy recovery.
