Houston Car Accident Involves Commuter Train

A Houston car accident leaves five people injured after a car is hit by a commuter train. The incident took place on Saturday morning, March 6, 2010.

According to reports, a Houston Metro commuter train collided with a car Saturday morning. The accident interrupted the downtown train service for approximately 40 minutes, as crews cleared the accident scene and officials conducted their investigation.

Rescue crews transported five people to local hospitals, including two victims from the car and three from the train, where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. No details were given concerning the extent of the victim’s injuries, however, none of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening.

According to Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County spokesperson Carolina Mendoza, the cause of the accident was unclear. She also indicated that they have not determined who was at fault leading to the collision.

The Houston accident is still under investigation by local authorities, including the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, as they continue to determine exactly what caused the collision.

Accidents involving commuter trains can be serious. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured and we wish all of the victims involved in this unfortunate accident a speedy recovery.
