A Houston car accident involving four vehicles claims the lives of two people and injures five others. The incident took place at approximately 4:00 AM on Friday morning, January 1, 2010 on N. State Highway 6 near Patterson Road.

A Ford Crown Victoria was heading northbound in the 3000 block of N. State Highway 6 when it swerved into the southbound lanes and into oncoming traffic, according to the Houston Police Department.  The Ford then slammed into a Dodge Laramie pickup truck.

The Dodge was struck by a Lexus GS 30, which was heading southbound. The force of the impact caused the Ford to slam into a Cadillac Escalade that was also traveling northbound on Highway 6.

The driver of the Ford Crown Victoria, John Jackson 23, of Houston, and the driver of the Dodge pickup truck, Benjamin Arnold, 32, of Houston, were both killed in the multi-vehicle wreck, according to the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to Houston Police Department spokesperson Victor Senties, five passengers of all the vehicles involved in the accident were transported to separate local hospitals. Senties also reported that the names of the five victims were not available.

The fatal Houston auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It was unknown why the driver of the Ford failed to stay in the single lane he was traveling in.
