A Houston car accident involving a single vehicle leaves one person dead and four others injured after a car rolls over. The incident took place at approximately 3:00 PM on Monday afternoon, March 15, 2010, on Holmes Road.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred when a Nissan flipped over and landed upside down after a failed attempt to pass another vehicle. The 60-year-old male driver of the Nissan made the attempt to pass a car on the left, but then veered onto the right shoulder after he saw a third car heading towards him.

Rescue crews transported the driver of the Nissan to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the single-vehicle wreck.

The man had his wife and children in the car at the time. They were all taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center. Their injuries have been described as non-life threatening.

The fatal Houston auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police reported that they discovered narcotics on the driver.

This is a terrible accident and our thoughts and condolences go out to all of those who have been affected by it. We wish the other victims a speedy recovery.
