A Houston car accident involving four cars sends ten people to the hospital after a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction causes a chain-reaction accident. The incident took place at approximately 9:15 PM on Saturday night, January 2, 2010, on Highway 6.
According to police, a car heading south on Highway 6 near Patterson lost control and swerved into the northbound lanes. A second car then skidded to a stop in order to avoid the first car. However the second car was T-boned by another vehicle causing a fourth vehicle to slam into the two vehicles.
Rescue crews transported two victims by air to Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. They have been listed in serious, but stable condition.
Rescue crews transported eight other victims to a nearby hospital.
Officials have not released the names of any of the victims, including the driver of the first vehicle that caused the chain-reaction crash.
Local commuters in both directions were inconvenienced for approximately two hours as crews removed debris from the accident
The Houston car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It has not been determined why the driver of the first vehicle lost control and veered into the northbound lanes.
