A Houston car accident involving three vehicles leaves a mother and child dead. The incident took place at approximately 6:30 AM on Friday morning, December 4, 2009 at the 9500 block of Jensen Drive near Tidwell Road.

According to police, a male driver in a Buick was traveling westbound on Tidwell Road at a high rate of speed and hit the side of a Chevrolet Impala. The force of the impact caused the Impala to slam into a third car that was turning at the Jensen Drive intersection.

The unidentified third car contained the two victims, the mother and child. The mother was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Rescue workers transported the 7-month-old child to a nearby hospital. The child was eventually pronounced dead by hospital officials.

The drivers of the Buick and the Impala were also transported to the hospital and treated for injuries. The driver of the Impala suffered only minor injuries while the other driver was listed in serious condition.

Investigators have not released the identities of any involved in the fatal three-vehicle wreck. The Houston accident remains under investigation by local authorities. Police have indicated that slick roadways may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
