A La Marque car accident claims the life of one woman after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) she was traveling in loses control and rolls over. The incident took place at about 12:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, April 24, 2010, along Interstate 45.

According to state trooper Brent Roper, the driver of a 2000 Ford Explorer swerved and lost control of the vehicle slamming into a highway divider. The force of the impact with the median caused the SUV to roll over three to four times. The incident took place at the 4700 block of Interstate 45.

An unidentified 45-year-old woman was sitting in the back seat and was ejected from the vehicle. Roper said that she was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear as to whether the woman was wearing a seat belt.

Rescue crews transported the male driver, of Houston, to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where he was treated for injuries sustained in the accident. A woman and two children were taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch with injuries. Roper reported that all four victims were in stable condition.

The fatal La Marque auto accident is still under investigation. Police have not yet determined why the driver swerved in the first place.

This is a terrible accident and our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family during this difficult time. We wish the other victims a speedy recovery.
