A Houston car accident involving three vehicles sends a woman to a nearby hospital. The Houston crash took place on North Loop West and Highway 290 at approximately 11:00 PM Friday evening, October 16, 2009.
According to police, the woman was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and lost control of her vehicle while attempting to avoid an accident.
Police state that the incident began when a taxi driver cut off another vehicle causing several other vehicles to swerve in an attempt to avoid hitting each other. The vehicle that was cut off by the taxi driver went into the path of the SUV. The woman lost control of the SUV when she attempted to avoid the car. This caused the two vehicles to collide with one another sending the SUV into the grassy shoulder where it landed on its side.
Neither the driver of the car nor the taxi driver was injured in the incident. However, the woman in the SUV was trapped in her car. Rescue crews had to cut her out of the SUV. She was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
The multi-vehicle Texas car accident that took place in the northeast Houston area is still under investigation by local authorities.
