May 21, 2012 – Houston, Texas – According to Chron.com, a man now faces murder charges after crashing into a vehicle and causing the death of an unborn child. The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 in the southeast part ofHouston.
Houston Police state that Ashton Vincent Carver, who was intoxicated at the time, was driving on the roadway when he failed to observe a stop sign at the intersection of Bataan andJutland. Carver hit a Toyota Corolla, which was driven by a pregnant woman.
The female driver, who was 5-months pregnant, was taken toMemorialHermannHospital. Doctors later told the woman that the unborn child died because of the impact of the car accident.
Carver was transported toBenTaub GeneralHospitalbefore being placed under arrest and sent to jail. He is currently charged with felony murder and felony driving while intoxicated.
This is Carver’s third felony DWI charge. He was previously charged with drunk driving in 2005 and 2008.
