Is there an OSHA office in Houston?

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created by Congress to “assure safe and healthful conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and providing training, outreach, education and assistance.”

OSHA covers private sector workers, state and local government workers, and federal government workers.

OSHA has offices throughout the United States, with nine offices in the state of Texas. Two of those offices are for the Houston area:

Houston North Area Office

690 S. Loop 336 W., Suite 400

Conroe, Texas 77304

(936) 760-3800

Houston South Area Office

17625 El Camino Real, Suite 400

Houston, Texas 77058

(281) 286-0583

Toll Free: (800) 692-4202

If you have a concern about your workplace, you can contact the office closest to you. You can submit complaints directly to an OSHA office or online through their website, where they will be forwarded to your local office; however, OSHA says that written complaints signed by workers or their representative and submitted to an OSHA area or regional office are more likely to result in onsite inspections. OSHA does, however, recommend that employees try to resolve health or safety issues first by reporting them to their supervisors or managers. Some employers may not realize certain issues even exist, so just by calling attention to the problem, you may be able to get things solved without federal intervention.

If there is an emergency or life-threatening hazard in your workplace, call your local OSHA office or 1-800-321-OSHA right away.
