A Houston car accident involving a speeding car leaves a driver and passenger dead in a morning crash that involved two vehicles. The incident took place at approximately 5:00 AM on Saturday morning, February 13, 2010, on Veterans Memorial at North Sam Houston Parkway.
According to police, witnesses saw a speeding car southbound on Veterans Memorial at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The driver allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The car then careened off the Toyota SUV and struck a concrete wall located under the Beltway.
The unidentified male driver and female passenger in the car were both pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue crews transported the male driver of the SUV to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the accident. He has been listed in stable condition. His identity has not been released by officials.
Morning commuters were inconvenienced for several hours as crews were required to shut down Veterans Memorial to clean up the accident scene.
The fatal Houston car crash is still under investigation by local authorities.
