A Houston car accident involving a vehicle that slammed into a building leaves two people dead and three others injured. The incident took place at approximately 2:00 AM on Monday morning, March 22, 2010, in the 3900 block of Briarpark Drive near Westoffice.

According to Houston police, 26-year-old Yoan Batista-Martinez was traveling northbound on Briarpark Drive when he lost control of his black Dodge, hit a berm and became airborne slamming into a southwest Houston building. Batista-Martinez was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest where he was treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

There were four other passengers in the car at the time of the accident. Two of the victims, a 38-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims were also taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest. Their conditions were not made known.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has reported that Batista-Martinez will face charges. They report that he failed to maintain a proper speed and control of the vehicle after he had allegedly been drinking.

The fatal Houston auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. The identities of the other victims have not been released.
