A 30-year-old Houston resident was fatally injured in a two-vehicle car accident on State Highway 288 in Manvel when he was driving his car the wrong way and struck another vehicle.

Witnesses said that they saw Garza driving a 1996 Ford Ranger. He was driving his car northbound in the southbound lane of State Highway 288 when he hit a 1999 Ford F250 that was traveling southbound. Garza died at the scene of the accident.

The occupants in the Ford F250 sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Manvel EMS for treatment. Their identities were not immediately available.

According to Manvel Police Captain Aaron Bell, “Garza was originally from Tennessee, but has family members in Pearland.”

Investigators from the Manvel Police Department are looking into the cause of the crash. It is still unclear as to whether or not alcohol was a factor in the fatal Manvel car accident, but alcohol was discovered at the scene.
