A Pasadena woman was killed last night in a car accident involving an 18-wheeler near Sugar Land. (Chron.com)

The 7-vehicle firey crash closed Highway 59 for several hours after the collision around 5:45 p.m. One other person was injured, their injuries have not been released, police said.

According to police, the driver of an 18-wheeler was unable to stop as he approached slow-moving traffic. The semi slammed into a Lincoln, sparking a chain-reaction crash involving five other vehicles. Two other vehicles collided after attempting to avoid the first accident.
The semi-tractor trailer and some of the other vehicles caught fire after diesel fuel spilled from the 18-wheeler. Firefighters were called to extinguish the flames.
